WORTH CONSUMING!

Some observations in this book are just brilliant. Though I feel that by reading this book I’m allowing myself to be clumped into the group of people that likes to read about cadavers, I can’t help but enjoy it. Most memorable moment so far is when the author meets a lady at a head-dissection seminar who prepared the heads and she (the author) can’t help repeating to herself: You cut off heads. You cut off heads. You cut off heads.

Full of “Eeew! Gross!” moments, yet often hysterically funny, Mary Roach is an amzing guide through the careers of cadavers.

I loved the book. Mary manages to impart a lot of scientific knowledge while never quite losing her “holy crap, I’m sitting here with a dead guy” attitude. She’s very very funny, but never disrespectful. So many of the situations she finds herself in while researching the book are just inherently strange and therefore ready to be mined for black black humour.
