Very short, very atmospheric novel of high school football and how the choices we make as teens affect our lives 15 years later. Or more.
I didn’t like how the coach was held up by the author as a revered figure (although it’s logical for the town to do so). The myth of the tough, cruel but heroic and “character-building” football coach is one that needs to be un-deified rather than glorified.
By the way, anyone else picture John Spencer (Leo) from West Wing as the coach?

I loved this book!!! I could not put it down. It is especially great for those who still feel a closeness to their hometown and those who love football. This is probably my favorite by Grisham.
