A story about the last time I consumed this — 4 years ago

This was the first of Chuck Palahniuk’s books that I read and turned me into an obsessive when it comes to this author. He is just brilliant. Survivor is by far my favourite out of what I have read so far. It has been about 3 years or so since I last read it and it would probably be a good idea to read it again and see whether it still has the same impact after having read many more of his books.
Survivor is an absurdly funny, yet penetratingly accurate look at modern society, in perhaps a not-so-good light. As a follow-up to the wildly successful Fight Club, Survivor carries over some of the elements I found so fresh and new about Palahniuk’s writing, while still keeping the story fresh and new. In other words, this is definitely not Fight Club, Part II.
As an author, Palahniuk’s best quality is his willingness to take chances. From the backward numbering the pages and chapters to the edgy themes contained therein, we can be certain about this: there is no topic too sacred.
A few of the “twists” toward the end didn’t live up to the set-up for me, but it’s not much of a let down when the book is still so much more interesting than the rest of what’s out there these days.
not the best work of palahniuk. it isn’t bad, and i did enjoy reading it, but the ending wasn’t near what i expected after reading others of his.
i note it as the most anti-climactic palahniuk novel i’ve read. it is worthwhile, however. just go see for yourself
The most cynical book ever. Probably standard fare for Palahniuk. Questioning religion and hero worship appealed to me. The ending was so-so, if not predictable (pun intended)
katiker got this for me for my birthday porque i love herrr and i love this book
Excellent mix of well-researched (or well-invented) throwaway trivia, and weird social parasitisms. Tails off a bit, but not too badly.
kinda crazy, kinda creepy. worth it.
good for how to get mascara out of fabric, to boot.
Excellent. Great anti-establishment tone, splashed with pop-culture references.
