The atmosphere doesn’t let up in the second installment – dark and intense. I found it was the kind of book that had me utterly sucked in while I was reading… but it wasn’t that hard to put down and get distracted (by Harry Potter, I confess!). Fortunately, it was also very easy to pick up again.

I still find the chapters a bit on the long side (20-30 pages), but that’s probably for those pre-sleep moments. I was also a bit disappointed by the slight increase in ‘mystical moments’, although most do slot into the story perfectly.
