Less taut than Elmore Leonard but in some ways just as intricate in the plotting. Hiaasen drops more zingers in this tale of revenge propelled ostensibly by the original sin of environmental degradation in the Florida everglades. Lessons are taught in this romp and they are compelling. Don’t throw your wife overboard the cruise ship on your anniversary – especially if you know she’s a champion swimmer. Don’t shoot your mistress because she starts thinking you murdered your wife.
