how it officially ends remains a mystery because the last page is missing. i was reading it at a bus stop when a large truck hit a girl on a bicycle around the corner and ran off (she was fine, bicycle not). wrote license plate # in book and tore off the page it was in which was the last. and so on.

I read this book in my teens somewhere, and picked it up again last week. Amazing how quickly the book goes, how it draws you in. The story is told in a disjointed fashion… as it progresses, Vonnegut tells you what will happen later that day, or a million years in the future, and the suspense is in wondering, how the heck is that going to come about?

I love all of Vonnegut, but this was definitely one of my favorites.

A fast, funny, original approach to dystopia, if only seeming self-referential.
