Following on his very successful series on physics, chemistry, etc come Larry Gonick’s history in many parts volumes. This particular volume ranges from primordial slime right up to the start of Alexander the Great’s reign, including Biblical times. Larry Gonick is refreshingly skeptical about the myths contained in conventional series and this book will give you new eyes with which to see the past. The book is riddled with mordant humour as well, and is as always drawn excellently. This would probably help schoolchildren a lot with learning their history, and adults will find it a great refresher too. I’m looking out for the next two volumes at my local library already!
