In Batman: Masque, the Dark Knight meets the Phantom as a series of tragedies mar the newest production at the Parisan Opera House.
I admit- I am a fan of both Gaston Lerueix’s novel of Phantom of the Opera as well as Andrew Lloyd Weber’s timeless musical. So, to have DC tackle this classic tale with the Dark Knight, I was hooked. Thankfully, this graphic novel isn’t a musical. I hate it when comics try to incorporate music in a story. I never can follow the tempo nor can I read music, so I haven’t clus how the “song” is supposed to sound. As mentioned earlier, that’s (thankfully) not the case.
Oh, I forgot… the art! It’s beautiful. The artist did a fantastic job. It’s so very remeniscent of Neal Adams and Jim Aparo’s realistic takes on the Caped Crusader during the early 1970s. Kudos Mike Grell- keep up the good work.
Worth Consuming.
