The first half is fairly slow. The second half rescued itself from the sappy mess it seemed to be headed toward.

I liked that some things got resolved, but not everything. Life is messy and some of the problems you deal with (both created by you and thrust upon you) you just have to get up every day and try to deal with.

People make decisions that seem cruel sometimes but this film treats all the characters humanely, no matter how flawed.
