WORTH CONSUMING!

Apparently,Dickens was so concerned about the antisemtic undertones of Fagin that he went out of his way to address the concerns and expurged most of the references to him being Jewish and the stereotypes with which he had described the character.Clearly Sir Alec felt no such worries, and gives a performance that could have been based on a Nazi propoganda film.Perhaps, for a film released in 1948, after the revelations of the horrors of the concentration camps had been made known,a more sensitive portrayal could have been expected.I’m not surprised it was banned in the US.
