First Salinger I picked up, so I was struck by the book’s bold tone. Holden’s fresh frankness and disillusionment makes it resonate with every American teen for some period of time. Got sick of him about halfway through, but I can still imagine him neurotically buffing bathroom graffiti from time to time.
