An Honest Look at QM & it's implications for Reality — 40 weeks ago
One of my colleagues, upon seeing this book, said “The title makes me think it’s bullshit.” However, this book is actually a pretty careful look, not at wild speculations of crackpots about what QM could mean, but at the more widely-accepted wild speculations of the highly respected scientists who have worked on QM over the years. We don’t need crazy extrapolations here, as the actual positions held by various scientists are plenty weird enough.
I’d say that one of the weirdest ones to me is the position that physics can never say anything about Reality anyway, making such discussions moot. I agree with the author of this book that such positions seem “intellectually safe but ultimately sterile”.
I heartily recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a very lucid, if somewhat out of date, look at what real quantum physicists have to say about the nature of ‘real’ Reality.
