Begin a story that splits off in five thousand directions, some plausible, others not so. Egan created some great, unique characters only to to give them a life of one chapter and bit parts in subsequent ones. I was really looking forward to reading MORE about Bernie, Sasha, Stephanie, Lou, J and the Cransdale Club.
