Beautiful scenery, beautiful leading lady, and a beautiful simple story. The usage of colours also worked very well, unexpectedly the present (well, 1999) is filmed in black/white but the memories are filmed in colour, and as in the other films of Zhang Yimou I’ve seen these colours are lucious eye candy. I loved it.
