I didn’t realise when picking this one out that there would be any religious connotations in the story, let alone that they would be so thick. Surprisingly enough, I still really thought this was a decent novel even with what I feel is a fairly heavy-handed approach in the christian metaphor department. To be honest, I can’t tell if it’s that this form of christianity is what people are into right now or if it’s just me that is being really jaded or cynical, but with such an obvious frontal assault approach to faith/slave religiosity I can’t tell which way the hero will swing. Will he follow the rest of the whatever or will he ultimately strike out with his own ideas and interpretations? I’m somewhat surprised to be looking forward to the next book.
