A question I have about this — 3 years ago
Was Murder is Easy first filmed as a movie without Miss Marple? I know the book was not a Marple mystery. In this movie, Miss Marple rarely speaks to anyone directly (outside of Benedict Cumberbatch’s character) and characters rarely make eye contact with her or acknowledge that she is in the room. She interjects comments that do not make much sense/are not important and the responses don’t always seem to correlate exactly to what she said.
In addition, the majority of the scenes Miss Marple is in, she is either the only person in the shot or it is shot over the shoulder of another character in the room. This made the whole movie seem rather awkward and I have never seen so many shots of the back of character’s head, arm or torso before.
It really seems like she was edited in after the movie was filmed and had filmed some scenes with Cumberbatch but few (if any) other actors present. Very, very odd.
