Can anyone suggest a good sauce for gnocci?

a tomato and mascarpone sauce – I just buy a jar from the supermarket (M&S if you’re in the UK!)

That sauce sounds lovely! I’m going with a basic tomato sauce for my first try because I’ve never had this before and I want to be able to taste the gnocchi. I think that will give me a good idea about how rich a sauce I’ll need in the future.

Gnocchi’s a bit like pasta, in that it doesn’t taste like much on its own. Go for a thicker tomato sauce if you can, as they don’t have any ‘hollow bits’ to lift up the runnier sauces.
