Thank you so very much! I would never have found this book if not for you. I had no clue you could eat acorns. Now I want to try acorn tofu!
...ahem. Any other suggestions? (;

Hi Lauraly,
Somewhere on here months ago I had a conversation with Uncle Enore about eating acorns. He used to go to a school in Northern California, and the Native Americans there were still eating acorn flour (made into porridge? I can’t remember) and feeding it to him and the other students. He really disliked it. At that time I found a cool website with recipes of how to make your own acorn flour and what to make out of it. I can’t remember any acorn tofu recipes, though. lol.
I put a new suggestion up for you, a book of poems by Wendell Berry. Also, here is a web site that will give you a taste of his poetry. He also writes short stories, novels, and essays, and teaches college courses. He lives on a farm in Kentucky, and cares deeply about family farming, local economies, and environmental issues. We are reading some of his stuff now for one of my book groups. Thought you might be interested. (:
