Had paella for the first time last March when visiting Madrid. Somehow I managed to evade the paella even through a childhood of summer vacations spent at the Costa Brava. This time I insisted to try some (having gotten over my fear of seafood and all). I didn’t realize it takes around half an hour for the restaurant to cook it up. So we were pretty starved by the time this huuuge pan was brought in. And in the end I wasn’t that impressed… a bit too soggy. But I cannot rate this dish as ‘not worth consuming’, there was a lot of potential there so it might just have been that restaurant. I’d like to try it again sometime. (Wasn’t Valencia the home of the original one? Maybe if I visit there someday)
