I started this on a long weekend ski vacation with my sister and some friends and finished it on the plane to Maui. Reminiscent of our own safari, the author’s charming, bittersweet stories are funny, entertaining, and illustrative. Most endearing are the stories about the people and animals that clearly captured his heart- Beau (the hairless baboon), Salvador (the pachaderm matriarch), Double-R (his colleague who dies of an unidentified Africian ailment).
