I’m not a big sci-fi fan, but when it’s done right I enjoy it. And The Host is very well done. It does take a couple of pages to get settled in to the story, but once I did, I loved it. It reminded me a lot of Stephen King’s The Stand. The main difference was there was no bad language and other strange perversions. It was very interesting and clean cut. This is Meyer’s first adult book, and it does not disappoint. With the Twilight series, she showed that she can write a great love story and make vampires likeable. With The Host, she shows that she can do much more than just that. Whether you’ve read Twilight or not, you should give this book a try.
