A story about this — 1 year ago

It’s um… hmm. Okay, not great by any stretch of the imagination, which means I should be explaining why I sat through the 5+ hours of this again!

I first saw this not-so-mini series years ago, and despite being not very scary to watch, it somehow left me with a complete case of the creeps. So when I spotted it on again over xmas, I decided it was time for another look…

Basically, this is a haunted house movie. Thing is, not only are there ghosties in the house – the house itself keeps switching rooms about, and is still building itself!

Into this place of many deaths and disappearances go an intrepid band of psychics, mind readers, automatic writers, etc, lead by an increasingly obsessed/deranged academic. She is intent on waking the house back up and getting proof that the paranormal is real.

The cast/acting really isn’t that great. Everyone does the usual stupid walking about the big creepy house by themselves, some suffer for it. You don’t really care. Still, I loved the house and all its twisted/ing-ness. The ghoulish inhabitants are all very obviously plastic animatronics, so scary – not so much. Certainly the second viewing didn’t spook me at all, although it’s great knowing why that one certain bit of music has always sounded rather creepy to me – it’s ‘cos it was played in this!
