NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This was not about what I thought it was going to be about!

But I love Annette Benning!
She’s so classy, she kind of reminds me of Diane Keaton.

(spoiler kind of?)
And I really don’t think that a real woman would’ve reacted the way that she did when she found out he was cheating?
My mom didn’t.
My friends didn’t.
I don’t even remember her crying in the movie.

Sooo… I turned it off about fifty-something minutes in.

lol

I was hoping for something like The First Wives Club!

Thank goodness for free-movie websites so I don’t have to worry about spending money on something I end up not liking!

But Debra Messing acted so much like Grace!! I loved that!
I was kind of waiting for a “what’s this, what’s happening, what’s going on” to pop up somewhere in the background.

LOL

This is actually a remake

Of a ground-breaking comedy of manners by Clare Booth Luce. It was first produced in 1936, so some of the dissatisfaction you are expressing is no doubt because of the generation-leaping it took to transform this story into a modern film. The fact is, the realities for women in the 21st century are very different than the realities for women in the 1930s. I haven’t seen this film, but, being familiar with the play, I had my doubts about how well it would translate in an updated version.

You should check out the George Cukor version with Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, and Rosalind Russell. Very fun.

Re-make.

I actually saw the first version a long, long time ago.

I kind of liked it, that’s why I was really disappointed in the re-make because I enjoyed the first one and I thought it’d be even better.

Oh well.
There’s always more movies!
lol
