This is such a cute movie! Many people may laugh about the movie being about a guy who falls in love with a sex doll, but not only is it the most g-rated movie for it’s premise, but it’s so much more than that. The way that the people treat and react to Lars throughout the movie makes me hope and wish that if I were ever to fall in love with a mannequin or sex doll that people would treat me as such. Not that I plan to or anything.
The movie really makes you think about how common and lighthearted we as humans assign our own projected traits/animistic symbols to immaterial objects. Possibly for others as well, but for me I kept referencing back to childhood during playtime with dolls or other children. I knew it wasn’t real, but I still felt compelled to act stories out until the day arrived when I didn’t feel the need to anymore.
This movie is poignant yet leaves you warm fuzzied like a feel good movie would.
