A story about this — 1 year ago
If you’ve seen the first movie, you know exactly what to expect here. The first half displayed pretty much every flaw of a sequel: take the original cast, but think you need to add twists (Cage and Kruger split up) and characters (Helen Mirran as Cage’s mother, arguing with Jon Voigt as his father). Actually, it does amaze me that so many famous faces appear here, including Harvey Keitel and Ed Harris (replacing and improving upon Sean Bean as the main baddie). Anyway, to the original concept add some more far-flung locations, ludicrous plot twists, and just more more faster faster!!! Urg.
But then… once it stops trying to out-do the original and just calms down into the story, it was actually a great deal of fun. The facsimile plot takes its treasure hunt through Paris, Buckingham Palace, the Oval Office and Mount Rushmore, seeking the famous lost City of Gold.
The list of goofs on imdb show how many liberties the film makers have taken with history, geography and everything in between – if that’s going to bother you, this movie isn’t pitched at you anyway! It’s very very silly, but ultimately a bit of Saturday afternoon fun.

Ooh ooh
I saw them filming this. Parts of it were filmed right outside my work.
Yes, that’s right I work in an evil laboratory inside one of the heads on Mount Rushmore. :D

not the Oval Office?
Really, I’m not surprised. You have ‘evil henchperson’ written all over that embalming blog of yours ;)

That's right
I say that my embalming people come there by accident but you and I know there are no accidents—it’s a big ray gun that gives people a fascination with the process.

That doesn’t make any sense, Oscar.

What can I say
it was morning…I think. Anywho I have deleted the extraneous words and it still doesn’t make sense.

I’ve been trying to convince my fiance to watch this and the original with me, but he ABHORS Nicholas Cage and REFUSES. My sister says I will enjoy it in the way that I loved The Mummy, i.e. for characters like Beni and lines like…
Beni: Hey, O’Connell! It looks to me like I’ve got all the horses!
Rick: Hey, Beni! Looks to me like you’re on the wrong side of the river!
How to get him over his hatred of Nicholas Cage!
