A story about this — 23 weeks ago
just watched this again for the first time since i was around middle school/high school age. i like it even more than i did when i watched it the first time. truly unflinching look at adolescence…i really do like the parts involving the parents and the little sister. i myself was the eldest to a younger, terribly cute sister. agh, so annoying! i could relate to dawn weiner pretty well, although i didn’t have it quite as bad.
i like that there isn’t a big happy ending, because for me, school never did have one either. you just have to live through it, and pray you make it out with a relatively unscathed psyche, much like what her brother tells her at the end. middle school was a battleground, and this portrays it pretty well (if not a little overdramatically in parts).
