Why I recommend this — 2 years ago
Rob Zombie’s version of the classic horror movie Halloween. The original Halloween can’t be made any better – it’s classic. But this version is worth a watch. It updates the classic complete with more sex, more nudity and more F words. Michael’s family is majorly dysfunctional and we get to see his world pre-killing his family. He talks in the asylum and starts an obsession with masks. But when he is grown and escapes becoming the Michael Myers everyone knows, there doesn’t seem to be a connection to the previous childhood storyline. He’s just Michael the killing machine knifing all the lusty teens. You can tell Zombie is a boob man all thru the movie.
Kudos to Malcolm McDowell for a good portrayal of Sam Loomis, Michael’s psychiatrist. No one could ever outdo Donald Pleasance and Jamie Lee Curtis in the original however. They made each of their characters come alive.
Zombie stayed mostly with the original storyline, adding his own touches and new scenes. Some worked and some didn’t for me. And smartly he kept in the original theme music and that famous mask.
All in all, a movie I recommend highly to horror buffs such as myself. One I will watch again and again.
