You do get to hear some great Simon and Garfunkel music in this movie. However, it falls flat, against a plot in which the music makes absolutely no sense at all. But then the plot makes no sense, either.
It makes for a good thirty second breakroom joke; having sex with a girl and her mother. But this is a movie longer than thirty seconds, and it adds absolutely nothing to the joke.
The characters make absolutely no sense. I lived during the time, and make no mistake, it was just as inane then. The hero is impossible to care about. He has sex with a woman, then is angry about it. Then, when someone else is marrying the woman’s daughter, we’re supposed to hope he takes her away from him. Bizarre? yes. Does it make sense on any level? No. Do we care about these people? No sane person does.
