A few years ago, I was stuck in a really bad relationship with somebody who was engaged elsewhere but who kept toying with my feelings anyway. The song Cheers Darling was almost a perfect image of this horrible situation, and I had downloaded plenty of other songs from O, listening to them while being emo and stuff.

Luckily, two years ago, I met a wonderful guy with whom I am still very much in love. I told him about Damien Rice, saying I loved him a lot, but could never buy his album because of all the bad memories that came with it. So, for a two-year anniversary a month ago, he gave me the album. Now, when I listen to it, it reminds me of my boyfried!

It is still a rather depressing CD though, for all its greatness. I woke up with it a few times but found my day was a bit sadder because of it. I discovered a song on it though (I had previously downloaded most of them, but not all) that I enjoy incredibly, Amie. The only weird thing with that song is that when he sings “read me the story of O”, I always imagine reading big arthrian legends, though obviously that’s not at all what The Story of O is about!
