"New" Maps of Hell? — 2 years ago
The most obvious thing to say about this album is that it’s a return to the sounds of early Bad Religion. So much so that I honestly thought I’d heard some of these songs before. But that’s a small quibble: there’s a lot of energy on this album, moreso than on the past few releases, and the musicianship is really tight. Everything that makes Bad Religion so amazing is on display in this album: rapid-fire rhythms, great harmony, angry lyrics, and excellent guitar work. New Maps Of Hell is a good album, sometimes reminiscent of earlier songs but still better than most of the punk rock that I’ve heard from newer bands.
