I’m almost finished the book. I saw the movie first and loved it, but now after almost reading the whole book, the film leaves SO MUCH to be desired. In the book you can really see how Mrs. Sucksby betrayed Sue. And you realize that the only people who care for sue at all are Maud, Dainty and her mother. Although Charles was enormously helpful. Anyway. It’s fucking great.
