Living With War

Neil’s anti-war album is better, to my ears, than PRAIRIE WIND but not as good as those lavishing praise on it make it appear. Sometimes he sacrifices subtle sharp edged attacks for blunt weapons (“Let’s Impeach the President”). By far the best track here is “Lookin’ for a Leader” which is an eloquent statement for a politically divided America searching for someone who can unite us AND make us believe in the office of the Presidency again.

*PLEASE NOTE*

This is NOT the post of someone who’s rabidly anti-war. I actually support a war on terrorism. I simply feel that Iraq is not where we should be.

If we really believe Osama bin Laden’s behind the WTC attacks, we should be focusing on finding him and bringing him to trial. The fact that we are NOT pursuing him leads me to question our resolve to actually bring the guilty parties in 9/11 to justice.

Since there are no WMDs in Iraq and no apparent threat to us, I can see no reason for the U.S. to continue to be there.

I no longer have any confidence in Bush’s foreign policy and, to be honest, I only see 1 person that I might be able to support with a clear conscience for the 2008 elections. [That would be Ron Paul if you want to know who.]

“Lookin’ for a Leader” resonates with me because I just don’t see anyone else on the GOP side whose values/beliefs line up with mine, nor on the Democratic side. Even though I doubt Paul will find the coalition needed to elect him, I’ve grown tired of electing the “lesser of two evils” and want to vote FOR someone…not merely AGAINST someone else.
