A story about this — 7 years ago
I just loved this book! I’m definitely going to have to pick up the others in the series.
I started the book halfway through my honeymoon while staying at a bed and breakfast in Avignon, France. I finished it just a few days later in the Charles de Gaulle airport while waiting for my plane back to the States. I had hoped to release it in France, but I couldn’t find an Internet terminal in the airport.
Here are a couple of my favorite parts of the book. I don’t think they give anything away, but just in case you don’t want to know anything before you read the book…stop reading here if you haven’t already read the book!
The problem, of course, was that people did not seem to understand the difference between right and wrong. They needed to be reminded about this, because if you left it to them to work out for themselves, they would never bother. They would just find out what was best for them, and then they would call that the right thing. That’s how most people thought. And:
There was so much suffering in Africa that it was tempting just to shrug your shoulders and walk away. But you can’t do that, she thought. You just can’t.
