Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books are pretty fun to read. I really enjoy the obsolete vernacular and archaic humor. The only disturbing thing about this particular book is Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle’s tendency to provide various pills, potions and powders to magically cure children of the character flaws. I realize at that time, about the only pills you might give to a child was aspirin. Now we have pills to replace parenting and they are terribly overused. I don’t really blame Betty MacDonald for writing it this way, but the story about the “Leadership Pills” had me cringing. Anyway, it’s pretty fun.
