WORTH CONSUMING!
After 3 trouble free years my little green friend has kicked it. This iPod traveled with me every where, every day. It rocked right up until the morning the battery died. I hope that my next iPod works as well as my mini.

I
replaced the battery on my (full-size) ipod for something like 25$ after some 2.5 years.
Maybe worth investigating if this is an option? (the folks at the apple store can tell you)
