I was hoping for something along the lines of Ruth Reichl’s delicious books, and, while I did get my share of tasty-looking recipes, this is more a memoir of free love excess than one of delighting in food.
There were some interesting food discussions, but even these dissolved into a litany of openings and closings this restaurant and that, a culinary history of New York. The kind of dry names and dates history you fell asleep to in High School.
Plus lots of sex. Huh. Notches on a bedpost. Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds, countless chefs, porn star, Playboy Editor. It’s a full set!
