WORTH CONSUMING!

I’ve never seen so many victimized women in one movie.

In my opinion, characters in Carver’s stories are usually “victimized” in one or other sense of the word; It can be poisonous stillness of daily life routines, banal meanwhile turbulent relationships, alcoholism, sexual frustration, etc. But, for me the most painful thing was Zoe’s suicide. She was somehow out of the mess others were deeply in.

Oh, I wasn’t even aware of the Carver connection! Yeah…that makes a lot of sense, come to think of it.

And I agree, Zoe’s suicide affected me more than any of the other tragedies in the film.
