I was so completely blown away by this movie.

The horror genre has sorely needed a good original shot in the arm, and this is it. Not only is delving into the bazillion internet fetish cultures an obvious idea, but this film is amazing in how it challenges what we now find horrifying—buckets of blood, gruesome torture scenes? Audience yawns. Obesity fetish? Audience can’t bear to watch.

Which isn’t to say that this movie isn’t gruesome. There’s some very visceral seat-squirming going on here. But not in a way you feel like you’ve seen a hundred times before.

This was such a great idea, and so expertly shot for maximum “dear god” reaction, that my problems with it—too much monochrome, ending could have been more taut—feel really minor.
