This falls into the genere of books that is about a woman falling in love with a foreigner and attempting to live life in another culture. This is a book that is probably a bit more geared to an older crowd, as the author is middle aged.

Many things seem sporadic and to come out of no where in the book, such as meeting a stranger and deciding to get married, but to each his (or her!) own.
