All Consuming

A question I have about this — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m not sure if this is a question exactly but here goes: This was a great story and the art is beautiful. I sometimes have a hard time with female characters and the way they are portrayed in graphic novels and comics and there was no exception here; the women characters seemed to be either whores, evil badguys or helpless women being brutalized…there just was no strong female characters which always leaves me a little sad. I’m unsure of when these were written initially and perhaps it is an old fashioned cultural aspect they are trying to convey in the story; I know that women have been treated as such throughout the world, throughout history and even today…I’m really not sure if that is what they are trying to show here. At times I found it hard to get through certain sections- it was frustrating for me to see. Still worth reading and I do intend to read more of them.

I know what you mean...

I read the entire series a couple of years back. There are a few “strong female characters” along the way, but what you are writing about is present throughout the entire story. I think that the context of the time and place explains a lot, but some of it was definitely difficult to read. Then again, some of it was difficult to read purely for the violence level (regardless of gender issues)...but ultimately the entire story is VERY worth it. I highly recommend you go the full distance :)
