The Mermaid Chair — 3 years ago
WORTH CONSUMING!
I’ve been listening to audiobooks from my library all the time – as a fall asleep, as I work around the house, as I knit, and as I take a break. The Mermaid Chair, by Sue Monk Kidd, is one of these books. While I enjoyed this book, I didn’t love it, I think because I’m sick of stories of women having epiphanies that result in them going back to the life that they had before (but of course, this life is different and much better). I just don’t believe that change is so easy.

My mom recommended it, enthusiastically and repeatedly, and I’ve been slowly slogging my way through it. The characters I’ve met so far are interesting enough, but I’m a bit put off that I can already see where things are going. Like you, I think I’m just tired of the chick-lit formula.
