My seven-year-old son had been begging me to take him to see this, so we went last week with my sister and her family, and OMG it was SO FUNNY! I very much enjoy Will Ferrell in general, and this film was one of his funniest yet (it didn’t make my cry like “Elf” did, but you can’t have everything, right)?
Really, it was just barely appropriate for the seven-year-old – lots of language I’m hoping he won’t repeat. :D But very, very funny – this is a film I’m looking forward to getting on DVD, because there are SO many lines that will become family classics – this could easily be the next “Zoolander” or “Master of Disguise” in our household. I laughed and laughed throughout this whole film. Things like:
“If we’d have wanted them to be wimps, we’d have named them ‘Doctor Quinn’ and ‘Medicine Woman.’”
falls over from laughing Okay, so maybe it’s funnier in context . . . so go see this film, if you enjoy crude, stupid humor. Lots and lots of belly laughs here. Also, I think it’s particularly funny how this film lampoons a certain segment of the American population, but I’m not sure that people in that particular segment of society will notice the jokes at their expense. Then again, perhaps they will. :D
And the kiss at the end – PRICELESS. (I knew it was coming – I knew from the first time they shouted at one another at the racetrack, but oh my, it was even better than I’d expected). snorting with laughter
Good film, and well worth watching, even if it did have it’s slow moments. And in some places, it’s just bizarre. But still. Very funny.
