WORTH CONSUMING!

One of the reason I read this book was because I had just joined the Code Pink book club and this book was my first assignment. I really enjoyed learning how the women’s moevement came to be and why women were so afraid to get dressed up and still be considered feminists.

Linda Scott’s book was well written concerning a history of the feminist movement from the early 1800’s. She does a great job in categorizing unknow facts about women’s history inluding how NOW started out from a protest from the NY Men’s Club which created “Sorosis”, meaning change. Past feminists, suffragattes, adsvocates, first women doctor, first women judge on Supreme Court, first predential nominee, all the way from Susan B. Anthony until Gloria Steinham this books tells all.

Plus, the detailed description of women’s cosmetics from Maybelline, Cutex, Revlon, Elizabeth Arden and the fashion magazines Vogue, Ladies Home Jounral, McCall’s and Ms. are all chronically mentioned here. This book could well be used in a women’s study college course book conerning the feminist movement.
