This book is definetly an example of good idea, poorly executed.
What could’ve been a great book turned out to be a morbid teenage love story set in the future. The same story with a modern twist can be seen in A Walk to Remember.
One of the lessons I’ve learned from reading books is that all good books have character development. This book failed to have that. The girl and the guy are annoying at the beggining and they’re still annoying at the end.
If the author had drawn some attention away from the dull, unoriginal love story and directed it more toward the characters themselves this could’ve been a great book.
Too bad. :(

I agree with you
I agree with you. The teenage love story is what I did not like in this book. It was incredibly annoying, but I suppose that may be why this is a “young adult” book.
The books overall theme was really great, and I, too, wish Anderson had focused the book in that direction.
