Philip Seymour Hoffman deserved the Best Actor Oscar for this portrayal of Truman Capote. His characterization was masterful. The movie, however, is dark, slow and artsy. I found myself drifting away at times. Can’t give it a wholehearted recommendation. 3 of 5

You pretty much said it
I feel like the movie is worth SEEING…and Hoffman nailed Capote..but I don’t know that I’ll ever watch it again. Pace was slow and Capote’s such an unsympathetic character that I was rooting against him even as I was astounded by Hoffman’s ability to crawl inside Capote’s skin.
BOTTOM LINE:
Get it at the library.
