it was kind of surreal reading about a culture that I used to be part of; not to mention the first part of the book where the main character was in my former neighborhood. The book is a decade old, but still a pretty accurate depiction.

Did you manage to get through it? I tried to read it a couple of months ago. I got halfway in (not without some pushing), then it languished on my bedroom floor ‘til the library demanded it back with threats of overdue fines. Maybe it’s the fact that I still work in that industry that made it so hard to palate. I’ve enough of that shit on work time; I don’t need it on my own time too! ;)

I made it through. It was a quick read, but not something that would be worth the effort for you to pick back up—I think its only entertaining to those who are outside of that bubble, ya know?
