It never lets up. David Thewlis is brilliant as are all the actors. Mike Leigh’s direction and improvisational scheme is brilliant, everything is brooding yet there is humour (albeit of the dark variety). Is it nihilistic or about urban anomie? I rather think that this is a hopeful movie but then I share this film’s aesthetic.
