I rented this because my son asked me to. Alex is 6, and I did a pre-view on the movie last night to see if it was good material for him. I think the movie is fun, and I don’t think it would be too scary for a 6-year-old (ymmv, etc.), but I gave it the parental thumbs-down based on 2 quotes – 1) “you are such a DICK!” (in the first 2 minutes), and 2) “this really SUCKS!”. Sure, I’m no puritan, but I’d rather not introduce these phrases into my childs lexicon… I’m sure it will come sometime, just not today…
