A story about this — 3 years ago

A fascinating account of a charismatic and bullheaded researcher and his falling out with the patriarch of Freud’s psychoanalytic legacy, and with the entire analytic community. Very very interesting, but almost claustrophobic in its focus on this particular realm, these issues, these characters—it’s a very narrow book, one that doesn’t much attempt to reach the threads of its insights out into the wider world. Probably why it is so obscure, despite being quite well-written and full of vitriolic, catty descriptions of each figure involved by each of the others.
