This was definitely one of the best movies of 2006. The acting is great, both by Jake Gylenhaal and Heath Ledger. Ledger did get more of the critical acclaim, but don’t overlook Gylenhaal’s ease with his character just because his is a more jokey role. The cinematography was great, as was Ang Lee’s directing.

The story itself is simple, sweet, and sad. There’s a message, but I’d rather not delve into it. Watch it and see. It is not just the “gay cowboy movie.”
